The October 10 Virgin Mary mass celebration was successful.!
- More than 100 French & Filipinos participated
- The rector of Fourvière Mgr Jean Marie Jouham gave his inspirational speech/message to the Filipino community
- The Fourvière Vice-rector and the over-all chairman of the Filipino community religious coordinator, Father Loys de Saint Chamas who celebrated the mass together with Father P, had given his all out support.
- The presence of our Consul in Lyon Maître Jean-Jacques Rinck and his wife gave a lot of encouragements to the Filipino community
- The Chapel decoration and mass organisation was headed by: Juliet Reyes, with compatriot volunteers: Lysette Beaudemont, Roselle La Porte
- The beautiful voices of the mass choir was headed by: Amay Valencia, Red Garca Joseph Felix with singer volunteers Lysette Beaudemont , Chella Roch , Joy Dauge , Liz Maquet, Juliet Reyes, Diana Pivato, Ann Tropel, Eden Tiad
- The procession march was headed by: Liz Maquet, Joy Dauge, Laila Janiszczak and other volunteers
- The reception snacks was organized by: Marivic Fradin, Miriam Fialon and other volunteers.
A brief History of the arrival of our Virgin Mary Nuestra de la Naval in Lyon.
It was during our first participation in consular days in 2008, organized by our beloved Consul Maître Jean-Jacques Rinck (With the presence of our former Ambassador Jose Abeto Zaide) in place bellecour
And, we meet the Vice-rector of Fourvière Father Loys de Saint Chamas, the two respected men discussed about our Virgin Mary in the Philippines. Father LSC encouraged our former Ambassador to send one of the Virgin Mary’s sculpture from our country. Ambassador Jose Abeto Zaide accepted the project and as soon as he was back in the Philippines he found a sponsor to sculpture the Virgin Mary de la Naval (by Emmanuel Baldemor and dressed by Roy Gonzales). Since Ambassador Jose Abeto Z aide term was finished, he turned over the project to our Excellency Ambassador Rora Navarro-Tolentino.
The Virgin Mary de la Naval was exported to Paris with the personal cargo of our Ambassador. Last May 14th, our Virgin Mary de la Naval, finally arrived in Fourvière Lyon, sponsored by Tete Agustin.
Since January 2009, we had celebrated 3 principal masses The Santo Niño, Virgin Mary and Simbang Gabi mass.
During the said masses, the Filipino community announced the arrival of our Nuestra Séñora de la Naval in Fourvière and all of us have been very excited and honoured to participate in the forthcoming celebration.
Our members and participants have been increasing and we are still looking forward to welcome more members to join to our religious activities in Lyon.
I would like to thank all our compatriots who extended their help to organize the past and the just finished events.
Likewise, a special thanks in advance to the working committees for the forthcoming December 5th grand installation of our very own Virgin Mary the Nuestra Séñora de la Naval in the crypte of the Basilica of Fourvière.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Vice-rector Father Loys de Saint Chamas for his support and love to our country.
We salute our Consul Maître Jean-Jacques Rinck & his wife who represented our community in Lyon .
We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all of you, especially the active staff from choir committee, decoration and mass organization, the procession committee, the snacks committee, the finance in-charge.
Very big thanks to everyone who gave assistance financially, and those who cooked the foods
We have also some thoughts to our dear Filipinos who have missed this occasion and we are inviting you all to participate on this coming big event on December 5th.
